International Data Corporation recently released mobile device shipment numbers in the last quarter of 2015, pointing out that tablets aren’t doing too well in the market, but “detachable” tablet shipments reached record highs.
Just over 8 million of these so-called hybrid tablets were shipped to retailers, with the iPad Pro leading the pack followed by the Microsoft Surface.
Some experts suggested that these mobile devices are particularly popular in the health care industry, and millennials are fond of them as well.
Hybrid detachable tablets might not steal the limelight from smartphones, but they could become the next desktop if trends continue.
