After a data breach-filled 2014, businesses hit the ground running this year in an attempt to stamp out any potential threats, but what does this mean for cybersecurity pros?

Cybersecurity professionals are in high demand, and this is clearly demonstrated by the average compensation for security roles. Here are the top five cybersecurity jobs and the salary you can expect in these positions.

At No. 5, Dice reported that chief information security officers make $192,500 per year.

Next up was IT security consultant, a job in which professionals work with clients to create cybersecurity strategies. The average pay is just under $200,000.

In third place, global information security directors earn $200,000 on average every year. Individuals in this profession must maintain and execute cybersecurity initiatives.

The second highest paid security job is chief security officer, a role in which IT professionals maintain and monitor the effectiveness of cybersecurity measures. These individuals are paid $225,000 on average.

And at No.1, lead software security engineers earn an average salary of $233,000, but due to the wide variety of tasks on these professionals’ plates, their exact duties are hard to pin down.
