Pinterest has new approach to tech industry diversity

The lack of diversity in enterprise IT has caused a ruckus recently, and now, businesses are taking action to put this issue to rest.

Hi, and welcome to the APN video blog!

Pinterest has taken an interest in tech industry diversity, according to a recent article from CNET. Co-founder of the social media company, Evan Sharp, announced Pinterest’s hiring goals in an attempt to convey to the public and potential employees that the enterprise is serious about creating a better, more diverse workforce.

In addition to increasing full-time engineering position hiring rates to 8 percent for minorities and 30 percent for women, the tech company also plans to enforce a “Rooney Rule.” This means that at least one female candidate and one minority candidate must be interviewed for every leadership role that opens up.
